Melissa Elsman, New England-based contralto, is known for her rich, warm that is also flexible and fresh. Passionate about making classical music accessible, Melissa performs a wide range of repertoire from early to new music, with a special focus on lesser-known works by female composers. Her programs include her lecture and recital La Femme Vaillante: Reviving the Remarkable Musical Legacy of Augusta Holmès, which she presented as a guest lecturer and performer at her alma mater, Chicago College of Performing Arts. This program has also been featured at venues including Nashua Public Library and with an upcoming performance at Concord Public Library. Alongside her performance career, Melissa teaches private voice lessons in her Concord, NH studio and provides voice and piano instruction at Shaker Road School. She holds a Master’s degree from Chicago College of Performing Arts and a Bachelor’s degree from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, both in Vocal Performance.
